Coming on a social
For events such as pub nights, you can just turn up on the day. For others, you may need
to contact the organiser in advance just to let them know you're coming. For bigger events,
and for group outings to third party events such as festivals and exhibitions,
you will probably need to book in advance.
Bookings
For third-party events such as gigs, festivals and exhibitions, you usually book your
own tickets direct. Once you've booked, any cancellation or refunds are between you and
the company running the event.
For SURG events such as BBQs or trips, you usually pay the SURG organiser in advance.
Once you make a payment your booking is confirmed, and if you cancel your booking you
may not get your money back. For trips, we'll refund your money if we are able to fill
your place. For other events, we will refund your money if the event sells out and we
are able to resell your ticket.
If we cancel an event due to lack of bookings, you'll get back any money you have
already paid. However if an event has to be cancelled due to events beyond our control,
we will do our best to return your money but this will depend on whether we are able
to recover any payments that have already been made.
Insurance
The
Ramblers' civil liability insurance
covers SURG members on approved social events,
as well as walks. Note that the policy does not cover climbing or transport to
and from events (including car shares), nor does it provide medical cover or
cancellation cover. If you wish to be covered for this, you will need to arrange
your own insurance cover. Events booked through or run by third parties may have
their own insurance cover.
