Subscribing to our Calendar
We've recently introduced a new feature to allow you to subscribe to a calendar containing SURG events.
The instructions are different depending upon which calendar program you use. Please note that if you download the calendar by clicking on the "ical" link, you will only recieve a snapshot of our programme and that it will not update automatically.
Google Mail
- On the very top line, select "Calendar" (or go to https://www.google.com/calendar?tab=mc)
- On the left hand side, under "Other Calendars" click "Add" then "Add by URL"
- Enter in the address (URL) http://www.surreyyoungwalkers.org.uk/programme/calendar/ical
- Click "OK"
- The calendar should now appear as an option to show within your Google Mail account
Outlook 2010
- Go to the "Calendar" View
- In the Calendar list, right click and select "Add Calendar... From Internet"
- Copy and paste in the address http://www.surreyyoungwalkers.org.uk/programme/calendar/ical
- Click "OK"
- The calendar should now appear as a separate calendar within Outlook
MacOS (iCal)
- Open iCal
- From the "Calendar" menu, select "Subscribe"
- Copy and paste in the address http://www.surreyyoungwalkers.org.uk/programme/calendar/ical
- Click Subscribe
- Set Auto-refresh to "Every day"
- Click "OK"
- The calendar should now appear as a separate calendar within iCal.
Apple iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod)
- Go to settings, then select Mail, Contacts, Calendars
- Select Add Account... under Accounts.
- Select Other
- Select Add Subscribed Calendar
- In the server field, paste or type in the address http://www.surreyyoungwalkers.org.uk/programme/calendar/ical and select Next
- On the next page, just select Save.
- You may wish to set Remove Alarms to Yes.
- In the Calendar app, the calendar can be shown or hidden by selecting Calendars, there will be an entry for this calendar under the subscribed section.
If you have succeeded in subscribing using another programme, we'd appreciate it if you could contact the Web Officer and provide details for your fellow walkers.

Easy Access Walks for everyone, including people with conventional wheelchairs and pushchairs, using easy access paths. Comfortable shoes or trainers can be worn. Assistance may be needed to push wheelchairs on some sections: please enquire. |

Easy Walks for anyone who does not have a mobility difficulty or a specific health problem or is seriously unfit. Suitable for pushchairs if they can be lifted over occasional obstructions. Comfortable shoes or trainers can be worn. |

Leisurely Walks for reasonably fit people with at least a little country walking experience. May include unsurfaced rural paths. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are recommended. |

Moderate Walks for people with country walking experience and a good level of fitness. May include some steep paths and open country, and may be at a brisk pace. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are essential. |

Strenuous Walks for experienced country walkers with an above average fitness level. May include hills and rough country, and may be at a brisk pace. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are essential. People in doubt about their fitness are advised to contact the organiser or leader in advance. |

Technical Walks for experienced and very fit walkers with additional technical skills. May require scrambling and use of ropes, ice axes and crampons. You must contact the organiser or leader in advance for further details. |
