Happy New Year! The SURG committee wishes all our members a very happy and healthy 2012. This is my first newsletter as SURG chair person, and I would like to take the chance to introduce myself – my name is Holly and my hobby, as you may have guessed, is walking.
 
As you may of heard, our AGM was back in October, and here is a list of the new committee members and what they are doing:

• Gary Harrison – Website Officer and Walk Secretary
• Andrew Sillitoe – Membership Officer
• Sarah Goodfellow – Recruitment Officer
• Paul Reynolds – Publicity Officer
• Andrew Dodd - Social Secretary

I am looking forward to this year as we have lots planned with a number of events happening though-out  the year.  The first of many events is taking place on Saturday 21^st January 2012 where you can join me for the first part of the North Downs Way walk with Walks Planning Evening afterwards at the George Abbott pub in Guildford.  So please place this into your diary or input into your phone and come along - it's great fun!
 
Please don't forget that anyone can send in news for the newsletters. Members news, walks news such as anything interesting you've seen on a walk, walks tips etc. Also, if you take photos on a SURG event please send to Gary Harrison, our website officer. Full details are on the website, along with all sorts of snippets of information, past newsletters, maps on how to get to the start of the walk etc.
