Paul (aka ‘Elvis’) joined SURG in May 2002, and met his wife Leanne through the group. He enjoys challenging long-distance walks and has 'summited' many of the highest mountains in the British Isles - but still has lots more to tick off! As well as leading his popular 'Ale Trails', walks and weekends away, Paul served on the committee as Social Secretary from 2004-2006 before taking up the post of Treasurer in October 2007.

It’s not essential to have any financial background to be a treasurer, but previous experience of managing budgets or accounts is useful. Extensive “Guidelines for Treasurers” are sent to all Treasurers, and there’s an induction for all new or prospective Treasurers. Support is available from the Finance Team at the RA's Central Office.
